Promote Safety and Inclusion
This week and next we will be working together to further calibrate our School Safety Plans. This year our Safety Plans will be audited and we want to ensure that we are in compliance and are prepared. Our number one priority is that out students in MHUSD feel safe while they are at school. The admin worked hard on updating and ensuring that all the pieces are there to respond to any kind of emergency.

Think Critically and Focus on Achievement
Prior to break the Special Education department combined forces and attended the ACSA See me, Hear me, Teach me conference that focused on FAPE and mental health in the classrooms. The sessions included (to name a few):
  • Beyond MTSS of Intervention to reduce dis-proportionality and close the achievement gap.
  • Difficult IEP meetings: using mindfulness to transform.
  • Who has custody? The legalities.
Be Present and Focus on Achievement
As many of you already know short term Independent Study has gone electronic! I wanted to give a big shout out to all the admin and attendance clerks who are working hard to adjust to the new system...you are rocking it. We continue to find glitches and learn new things and I appreciate all your willingness to give this new way a try!

Often we look at chronic absenteeism and truancy, however it is also important to recognize the students who have perfect attendance. Many of our students work hard, attend regularly and are true leaders in our school.

by: Susan Scott
Picture
The master teacher of positive change through powerful communication, Susan Scott wants you to succeed. To do that, she explains, you must transform everyday conversations at work and at home with effective ways to get your message across—and get what you want. In this guide, which includes a workbook and The Seven Principles of Fierce Conversations, Scott teaches you how to:
• Overcome barriers to meaningful communication
• Expand and enrich relationships with colleagues, friends, and family
• Increase clarity and improve understanding
• Handle strong emotions—on both sides of the table
• Connect with colleagues, customers and family at a deep level

CARE TEAM UPDATES

JACLYN SNYDER, ALICIA ARIZMENDI, DANIELLE WARREN, DANIELLE CLAMPETT, IRENE MARTINEZ, JEN BAEZ, AARON DURON
  • We want to thank all the Morgan Hill Unified School District families that graciously collaborated with us to complete the biannual census survey for students under the code 191.
  • Last week also we assisted the Food Distribution at San Martin Gwinn. It was wonderful to see so many families attending the event despite the cold weather.
  • As has become a tradition we have also the presence of the Morgan Hill Public Library at the food distribution.
  • We are going to start our Parent Project this month, we are still enrolling families. If you have any question regarding the Parent Project or do you want to refer a family, please contact us ASAP.
