Morgan Hill Unified School District Restorative Practices and Community

What is Restorative Practices?

Restorative practices is an emerging social science that studies how to strengthen relationships between individuals as well as social connections within communities.

Restorative Justice in MHUSD

We have partnered with the International Institute for Restorative Practices to bring Restorative Practices to our school sites and community.
"Topics include how to set high expectations while being supportive, how to provide direct feedback and ask questions that foster accountablilty, and the most effective methods to resolve common conflicts. "

Video: Intro to Restorative Practices
VIDEO: Building a Restorative Practice Community
With Restorative Practices we are using an approach to others that is focused on people and relationships so we can nurture strong, healthy and vibrant connections between our families, peers and community.
We can build our capacity to listen from the heart, without judgement and foster more connected relationships by using a variety of Restorative Practices, including learning how to use restorative circles in many different ways and situations. Some important Restorative Practice skills are:
  • active listening
  • non-judgement
  • being accountable for our actions
  • involving everyone in creating and implement solutions
  • peaceful conflict resolution
  • and so much more
