Promote Safety and Inclusion
Picture
This week has been filled with Safety Plan modifications and updates. All the principals came together at a variety of different work sessions to update and condense the safety plans into something usable and functions. The plans include at a glance procedure for fire, earthquake, and run hide defend. They also include evacuation maps, evacuation sites, district and site codes of conduct, district assessments and ICC command duties and supports.

Be Present
All site attendance clerks and admin have been trained in the new online Independent Study process (10+ days). We are able to better monitor students on IS along with making the process more functional and easier for the secretaries and the teachers. We no longer have to chase down teachers to fill out their sections it is all digital. We have 51 completed short IS contacts during the second semester.

ATTENDANCE WORKS
ATTENDANCE WORKS WEBSITE
Upcoming Webinars
Attendance works is a website that helps support all things attendance. Their mission is "to advance student success and reduce equity gaps by reducing chronic absence. "
Their goal is to:
  • Building public awareness and political will about the need to address chronic absence. This includes extensive media outreach as well as working with key national organizations to spread the word about why this issue matters and explore the role federal government can play. It also includes explaining the critical difference between chronic absence and truancy.
  • Fostering state campaigns and partnerships by developing coalitions to advance state and local policies that promote tracking attendance for individual students and reporting on chronic absence to ensure schools, especially if they are low-performing, will intervene to improve student attendance.
  • Encouraging local practice by providing technical assistance and tools to help communities, schools and school districts monitor and work together to address chronic absence. This includes creating peer-learning networks and using our website to provide access to a variety of free tools and resources to over 275,000 visitors each year.

Why Leaders Eat Last
Simon Sinek

In this in-depth talk, ethnographer and leadership expert Simon Sinek reveals the hidden dynamics that inspire leadership and trust. In biological terms, leaders get the first pick of food and other spoils, but at a cost. When danger is present, the group expects the leader to mitigate all threats even at the expense of their personal well-being. Understanding this deep-seated expectation is the key difference between someone who is just an "authority" versus a true "leader."

Leaders Eat Last
Simon Sinek

Picture
Imagine a world where almost everyone wakes up inspired to go to work, feels trusted and valued during the day, then returns home feeling fulfilled. This is not a crazy, idealized notion. Today, in many successful organizations, great leaders create environments in which people naturally work together to do remarkable things...
Too many workplaces are driven by cynicism, paranoia, and self-interest. But the best ones foster trust and cooperation because their leaders build what Sinek calls a "Circle of Safety" that separates the security inside the team from the challenges outside.

CARE TEAM UPDATES

Jaclyn Snyder, Alicia Arizmendi, Danielle Warren, Danielle Clampett, Irene Martinez, Jen Baez, Aaron Duran
CARE is excited to Start the Parent Project, and will host a Spanish speaker class in the fall. If you have families interested you can start a referral list.
We also continue to check-in with our at risk students and connect families to resources.
Last week we support the food distribution at SMG it was wonderful have so many volunteers eager to help families.
Also most our students that have been participating in our academic mentoring program stated seen results and some of them are very proud of the rewards they have received. They wanted to share their rewards with us. CONGRATULATIONS! to all our students for their hard work.
