Nurture Community
In collaboration with Morgan Hill City, and MHUSD we were able to put on a successful Morgan Hill Values Youth event. There were numerous agencies there for families to meet with and get resources. MHUSD presented on Vaping and Behavioral Health presented on mental health.
Promote Safety and Inclusion
Student Services and MHPD came together with the help of HR to host a run, hide, defend and crisis training for all classified staff in the district. Officer Pervis presented on run, hide, defend and went over what to do and expect. We had a great turn out over 50 people showed up! Great work!
Think Critically
Student Services has been meeting individually with school sites to provide training and support as we transition into an electronic way of processing short term IS contracts. We are hoping to be able to go completely electronic in the near future.

A quick outline of the process:
1. The parent comes in and requests IS at least 2 weeks prior to the request (for more than 10 days)
2. The IS secretary sends me an email with the following information:
Kids name and ID:
Duration of Leave
Primary: supervising teacher, secondary: it will be the IS Secretary unless otherwise stated
Admin (secondary) who will sign off.
3. Once I have all that information I will process the DocuSign and it will automatically send it to the involved parties. It goes in order- IS secretary, supervising teacher. teacher(s), admin, IS secretary, me.
4. Once all parties have signed I will download it and send it to the IS secretary and they will need to get the parent signature. If you have the email of the parent and they are comfortable with signing their part in Docusign I can add them you just have to let me know.
- make a copy and give to the kid so they know what to work on during their leave.
5. When the student returns the supervising teachers/teachers grade the work, the attendance secretary will put it in attendance. Please be sure to put a copy of the contract with a copy of a work sample with it for auditing purposes.

Attendance

Attendance is a huge area of growth for MHUSD. Many sites are working hard to decrease their chronic absenteeism rates and increase student engagement. MHUSD's current chronic absenteeism rate is 12. 1% which is around 3% higher than the state average. Homeless and foster making up 20% of that number.

What is your site doing to address chronic absenteeism and truancy?

CARE TEAM UPDATES

Parent Project
On February 26th, 2019 MHUSD is hosting the first cycle of The Parent Project. This is a 12 week program that aims to teach parents skills necessary to restore the parent/child dynamic between them and their "strong willed" child. It will be held at the Morgan Hill Police Department from 6p to 9p and will run until May 14, 2019.
Food Distribution
January 8th we assisted families during the food distribution at SMG, The Morgan Hill Library was also present giving out free books. It was wonderful see kids reading their new books while parents were getting food.
We also assisted the food distribution at P.A. Walsh, January 23rd.
Next food distribution will  be February 12th 1:00pm at SMG.
Second Harvest Food Training
We have completed a training that enables us to reach out to families with more options on food resources including CalFresh.

New to the Team!
Danielle Clampett: Student Support Specialist at Martin Murphy.
Irene Mendoza: Student Support Specialist at Britton.

Kudos to our Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cohorts. All of these sites did a fantastic job on their Tier Fidelity Assessments.
Please continue to have your Tier 1 teams meet and review data to address behavior concerns or to update your school wide expecations.

Tier 2, 3, and 4 Cohorts, please continue to review data on your CICO students. Make adjustments as needed.
